5th National Audit Project

Posted By (lapsed member) |  last update 14-May 2012

The 5th National Audit Project (NAP5) is the latest in a series of audit projects run by the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA). Previous audits have made a national and international impact and have resulted in important changes to clinical practice in the NHS.

This project is a collaboration between the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) and the RCoA.  It has been authorised for data collection and has been approved by the appropriate bodies.

NAP5 will examine the important topic of accidental awareness during general anaesthesia (AAGA), with the ultimate goal of developing national strategies to prevent accidental awareness.

Please help to raise professional awareness of this project to enable the project to capture all cases of awareness (to be reported to a network of Local Coordinators) in the data collection period of 1st June 2012 to 31st May 2013 inclusive.

Further information is available on the NAP pages of the National Institute for Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) and Health Services Research Centre (HSRC) website:
