Phil graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff in 2000 and went on to attain the MRCP(UK) in 2003 followed by training in Anaesthesia within Wales acquiring the FRCA in 2007.
During his anaesthesia training he completed the Diploma in Medical Education, and has now worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist for 8 years during which he completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Leadership with 'Academi Wales' and more recently graduated from a year training with the 'Institute for Healthcare Improvement' as a Quality Improvement Advisor. He undertakes clinical anaesthesia for regular colorectal and maxillofacial lists and is lead anaesthetist for pre-operative assessment.
His healthcare interests centre around quality improvement particularly with the integration of technology in healthcare to improve safety and efficiency. His outside interests include sailing, swimming, cooking, chess and family life.
