13-Apr 2017

Dear SCATA Member

I'm pleased to announce that we have secured a date and venue for #GasHack2017 - please put the weekend of 21-22 October in your diaries. Planning is at an early stage so expect further announcements in the coming months.
The venue will be the Royal College of Anaesthetists in Red Lion Square, London.
If you're not familiar with the “Hackday” concept, head over to the official NHS Hackday site to get a feel for what they are about. Our event will be a specially themed Peri-Operative Medicine Hackday - we have coined the name “GasHack” in an effort to get a short Social Media-friendly title for the event.

Just over four weeks to go until our 30th anniversary joint meeting with BCS Health Scotland at the Strathclyde Technology & Innovation Centre in central Glasgow on 22nd and 23rd May.
Places are limited so if you are planning to attend, I would encourage you to visit the web site and register as soon as possible.
10 External CPD points have been now been approved from the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
There are a number of hotels within easy walking distance of the venue, the closest is the Premier Inn City Centre George Street

Finally, it is with regret that I have to inform you of the death of Dr Richard Dunnill earlier this month.
Richard was a former SCATA Chairman, founder member of ESCTAIC (our sister organisation in Europe) and a leading light in the early days of technology in our specialty.
Dr Alastair Lack has kindly sent me a short obituary that I have published on the SCATA web site.

Regards,
Dr J Grant Forrest
Chairman, Webmaster and Joint Organiser ASM 2017
